Christmas Boxes

On Children in Need day, the students all worked together to pack, wrap and label several shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child, the charity run by the Samaritans Purse.

The charity co-ordinates the giving of presents to children in developing countries who would not receive anything else at Christmas.

The students, parents, teachers and staff at Coln House all donated gifts that filled several shoes boxes with toys and gifts for children less fortunate than themselves. The students brought lots of thoughtful items in to fill the shoe boxes including books, teddies, small toys, bouncy balls and also soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes. The boxes were wrapped with christmas wrapping, and Mrs Maidment produced special Coln House School christmas cards to put in the boxes, with a photograph of all the students wearing the new school uniform.

Miss Andrews discovered that the boxes can be tracked online by printing a bar code off and putting it inside the shoe box. Once the boxes are delivered the school will receive an email to say in which country they were given to children.

The students demonstrated their empathy and understanding for children in other parts of the world, and they look forward to finding out where the boxes will be delivered.
