Sourcing Food
As part of the Jamie Oliver Home Cooking Skills course pupils in Tame have been researching where we buy our food from.
Abbey Home Farm
On Thursday 27th June a group of six pupils visited Abbey Home Farm in Cirencester as a joint Food and Science trip.
Trip to Wimbledon
It was a very early start for the Wimbledon group as we hit the road at 4.30am. After an hour of driving, we saw glimpses of Wimbledon signposts and excitement grew.
Chefs on Tour
On Wednesday June 12th Gareth Crwys and Shaun Naan visited Coln House from Gloscol as part of 'Chefs On Tour'. All pupils watched their demonstration of cooking and were thoroughly entertained as well as educated.
Cheltenham Science Festival
On Thursday 6th June Kyeran, Lucas, Miss Andrews and Mrs Young headed to Cheltenham for the annual Cheltenham Science Festival.
Coln House pupils meet Sir David Attenborough
As part of the KS3 Science programme pupils visited Birdland in Bourton on the Water. The aim of the visit was to support the pupils understanding of classification and habitats. The boys had a great day and particularly enjoyed the talk given by a park keeper about the Flamingos. The boys also had the opportunity to view penguins swimming underwater and the flight of Cranes and Storks.
Crown Court Visit
On Friday 26th April 2013 six pupils and three staff from Coln House School left the quiet sleepy town of Fairford and headed up the 'smoke' (well actually the A417) to the City of Gloucester. The purpose of the visit was to experience a morning perched in the public gallery of Gloucester Crown Court.
Farm Visit
In March a group of year 8 and 9 pupils went to visit Abbey Home Farm in Cirencester. The boys had been studying meat as part of their Jamie Oliver Home Cooking Skills Course and they went to the farm to see how animals are farmed.
