Oxford University Museum of Natural History

On Thursday 13th March Professor Francis and friends embarked on a voyage of discovery to Oxford.

After studying classification and evolution in lessons, the professor felt that a visit to the Oxford University Museum of Natural History was the order of the day. So he gathered Noodles and bundled 5 protégés into the nearest chauffer driven mini bus. The chauffer was paid in pies!!
(Now for the boring bit)
The Oxford University Museum of Natural History houses the University's scientific collections of zoological, entomological and geological specimens. The Museum itself is a Grade 1 listed building, renowned for its spectacular neo-Gothic architecture. Among its most famous features are the Oxfordshire dinosaurs, the dodo, and the swifts in the tower.

Anyway back to the journey. After navigating our way through the everglades of Lechlade and the wild animals of Buford we eventually hit the A40 to Oxford. The chauffer was actually quite good, until he got lost at a roundabout and asked the only person on the journey that has absolutely no sense of direction the way. You've guessed it, we went of piste!! Swiftly resolved by a quick peruse of the telephonic apparatus and we were back on track.
Parked, fed and ready for the adventure ahead Professor Francis led the way to the museum.

Inside we marvelled and wondered at the amazing exhibits on display. Professor Francis was saddened to see that Geoffrey's ancestors looked even more hideous that Geoffrey himself.

Geoffrey’s Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great,

Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great,

Great, Great twice removed step sister.

The Dodo was a great talking point for Professor Francis who professed to know him personally as the professor himself is older than time. We left Professor Francis reminiscing with the Dodo and all disappeared for a quick look round Pitt Rivers Museum which is on the same site. Secretly we all only went on the trip to see the shrunken heads from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.  (Don’t tell the professor)

We all had an amazing time and the Professor was glad of the chance to visit so many ancient, fossilised, mummified, stone dead, really old friends.

P.S The chauffeur got his pie!
